Award Categories

AESP Energy Awards Program recognizes excellence in the energy services field in the following categories:

ORGANIZATIONAL AWARDS

Customer Engagement and Marketing Awards:

  • Residential Category – This award recognizes residential energy customer engagement and marketing initiatives that significantly increase action or improve customer engagement.
  • C&I Category – This award recognizes C&I (including small businesses) customer engagement and marketing initiatives that significantly improve business and/or community engagement.

Groundbreaking Program Design and Implementation Awards:

  • Residential Category – This award recognizes the development and/or execution of an innovative residential program.
  • C&I Category – This award recognizes the development and/or execution of an innovative C&I program (including small businesses).

Innovation in Technology Award – This award recognizes an innovative product, project, or service in the energy industry that includes, but is not limited to, those that decrease energy use.

NEW! Innovation in Demand Flexibility Award – This award recognizes champions of efforts in demand flexibility programs, including but not limited to renewable energy projects, distributed energy resource programs including demand response, microgrids, decarbonization efforts, and electrification programs. 

 

 

NEW! AESP Leadership in DEI Award – Individual or Organization - This award recognizes exemplary leadership in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the clean energy sector, with clear positive impacts in areas as a result of these efforts. This recognition may be awarded to an Individual or Organization that has created and maintained diversity, equity, and inclusion by establishing an environment that promotes, recognizes, and effectively utilizes individual talent. 

The recipient must demonstrate success that has benefited members of their organization and helped promote DEI practices in clean energy.

  • Individual:
    • This person seeks to raise awareness of the value a diverse workforce and inclusive environment bring to a company or organization.
    • This individual champions the cause of DEI and works to inspire other individuals and management to engage in activities that will promote & recognize DEI principles and practices.
    • The recipient seeks new challenges and challenges others to continually work toward making a difference in the work/life experiences of present and future generations.
  • Organization: This organization works to foster a workplace that creates a sense of belonging and equity for everyone, including setting DEI goals and standards to ensure employees are provided an opportunity to be heard, valued, and engaged.
    • The award recipient applies innovative, future-forward, and visionary thinking to foster DEI principles in the workplace and greater community.

 

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS (applications accepted)

Emerging Professional Award – This award recognizes the next generation of energy professionals who demonstrate leadership and a drive to grow professionally and have been in the energy services industry for less than 5 years. For this application, 2 letters of recommendation are required. Individuals can be nominated by colleagues, managers, and/or mentors. 

Mentor of the Year Award – This award recognizes an outstanding role model who has demonstrated a commitment to their mentee through guidance, knowledge sharing, encouragement, and coaching. This award is limited to mentors who participate in AESP’s Joule Mentorship program. Individuals are nominated by the mentee.

 

 

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS (nominated by AESP Staff and/or Board of Directors)

Volunteer Member of the Year Award  This award recognizes an AESP member who has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and support to the association including but not limited to Chapter involvement, Topic Committee contributions, Conference Planning committee participation, and content development (i.e. articles, white papers, and presentations at conferences and webinars). This is awarded on a case-by-case basis each year through recognition by the AESP staff.

B.H. Prasad  The B.H. Prasad award is named in memory of the former chair of AESP, BH Prasad, and recognizes a member's outstanding contributions to AESP. Similar to a Lifetime Achievement Award, this is awarded on a case-by-case basis each year through recognition by the AESP Board of Directors and staff.
